Minor Magic
Taking a closer look at the hidden spots right in my own backyard and realizing that the deepest beauty isn't about chasing the new. It's about the memories we build right where we are.

My Dearest Dreamers,
I’ve been working a lot lately and haven’t had time to explore looking for the patches of beauty I love so much. At first this was disappointing, but as I stretched my legs in my own yard and around town, I was reminded of how beautiful my home really is. There are hidden sandbars along the river, idyllic patches of forest, crystalline lakes, and a thousand other secrets scattered around.
It was just a matter of slowing down and rediscovering what beauty truly means. It’s not always something new and exciting. Sometimes it’s about remembering the minor miracles in our everyday lives. We also need to understand that surface-level beauty is often superficial and fleeting. While there’s nothing wrong with allowing ourselves to be swayed by these things, we should always look deeper. The truest beauty of a place is the memories we’ve made there. The hours spent relaxing on hidden sandbars as the water flowed by and helped us unwind. Our children running through idyllic patches of forest as they pass a ball between them. Swimming in crystalline lakes with our families and friends. These are the things that imbue such places with the deepest, most sincere form of beauty.
When we understand this, we can start to see everything else around us with new eyes. Maybe that old house that feels so cramped and broken down is a palace we never saw. That lawn your neighbor refuses to mow might just be a vibrant meadow, perfect for lounging on with your favorite book. It’s just a matter of taking another look and letting your mind fill in the magic.
So, what paradise exists in your world? Tell me about it, send me pictures if you’d like, and share some of your own personal beauty with me. I’ll keep doing the same with you.
With deepest sincerity,
David Warner
