Inspiration in Movement
Our new cat has inspired me to create 2 brand new series Warriors and Dance. Stay tuned to see what these turn out to be.

My Dearest Dreamers,
We have a new cat! Her name is Tulip, and she is an anniversary gift for my wife. She’s an adorable little black-and-white kitten who settled in surprisingly well with our other five cats. On the surface, this might seem completely off-topic for these letters, but even though I didn’t strictly speaking want another cat, she’s wormed her way right into my heart alongside our crew of other pets.
Isn’t it interesting how these creatures influence us? As I watch her run and play, I find myself completely fixated on movement: the flow of her fur as she sprints up the stairs, the individual strands catching the light, the way she rolls about while the carpet fibers bend and shift beneath her.
It enthralls me, and it has me itching to create. So much so, that I’ve decided to add two new thematic painting series to my repertoire. I don’t have finished pieces to show you just yet, but they are coming!
First, I am working on a Warriors series that will highlight various types of warriors in action—striking out with swords, fists, and whatever else they may wield. Second, and a little less developed but well on its way, is my Dance series, which will capture specific dance moves with as much of the motion rendered directly into the piece as possible.
The core theme behind both series is movement, and I am so excited to capture it in action. They will resemble the Flower Dancers collection to a point, but with a heavier emphasis on raw motion rather than the pure wonder and beauty of that earlier series.
Stay tuned! If you’re already a subscriber, you’ll be seeing these pop up in the newsletter as I complete them. If you haven't joined yet, keep an eye on my socials where they'll start appearing alongside my regular updates.
Thanks for being my sounding board today. I’d love to hear what you think about these upcoming series!
With my deepest regards,
David
