Beauty Persists

I’m sharing a few thoughts on finding magic in surreal moments, navigating dark skies, and a quick teaser for what’s coming in the Hidden Magic collection.

My Dearest Dreamers,

As I write this, smoke hangs heavy over large portions of my beautiful state, and we’ve been advised to stay indoors to protect our lungs. Looking out the window, the sky is a heavy, muted yellow. It would be easy, and completely understandable, for any of us to feel weighed down by this.

And yet, beauty persists.

As the sun sets, it transforms into a vivid, glowing orange orb surrounded by soft gray and yellow clouds. It casts a striking, almost surreal dystopian atmosphere over the world, the kind of breathtaking moment that your phone camera inevitably turns into a blurry orange smudge in an amber haze. It serves as a quiet reminder that even in the most difficult or unsightly circumstances, beauty is still present. We just have to be willing to see it.

It might sound strange, but moments like this give me hope. They reinforce my core belief that magic exists everywhere, and that we can all experience it if we simply slow down and look for it.

Though a bit more intentional than the chaotic weather, the artwork in my upcoming Hidden Magic collection centers on these exact kinds of miraculous moments, the subtle, magical occurrences that appear without warning and fade just as fast.

For those of us who dare to dream, magic really is everywhere.

What about you? What hidden magic have you caught a glimpse of lately? I’d love for you to share a story or two in the comments so we can all get a peak into your world.

With my deepest regards,

David
